Why Being Your Own Source is the Cure You’re Actually Seeking
Being your own source. What does that mean? It means that you generate your own energy. You no longer look outside of yourself for a quick fix.
Ayurveda refers to this as svastha, which means to be firmly established in one’s self. This is said to be the root of health on all levels. When you’re tapped into your being, energy moves through you from some higher creative source, and you feel at ease. You feel calm. You feel connected. There’s no more worry. There’s no more rushing to get somewhere or achieve something. Not that there’s no fire/ambition/discipline, but rather, there is a greater clarity and flow of inspiration coming through you without you having to “get it” from somewhere.
The root of addiction is the endless seeking to be filled from the outside, and when that fails, because inevitably it will, we are left with our inner pain and whatever it is we’re trying to cover up. The same goes for other areas of life: When we seek answers, happiness, approval, validation, (and on and on) outside of ourselves, we become dependent on that. We become something that is leeching energy from others in an effort to fill our own well.
In the I Ching, the ancient Chinese oracle, there’s one hexagram called the Well, number 48. Its message is that the means to access the “well” (source of…
