Hummingbird Boy
Tiny woman—
shut up inside her
wooden cabin with
locked doors and
jaws —
spends her nights
weaving threads of clouds into
strings of sound.
Hummingbird boy flies in
through the window,
lands on her pillow and
lays for a while, caressing her hair,
spilling words into her ears as he
scatters secret seeds
across her sheets.
In the morning,
the cabin woman washes
the stains he left.
